When Daisy moves from her hometown to complete her nursing training at a city hospital, she has no concept of what she will encounter. As the full wave of the 1950's polio epidemic surges Daisy is faced with unspeakable pain and trauma. Another wave hits when her own sister is diagnosed with polio. Daisy leaves her studies to return home to nurse her sister in an iron lung. Will Daisy ever find healing of her own heart as she navigates ways in which to fight this new war on the home front and will her own dreams die?
